Go back to last night's post and it is all about the NAAAtional League.

And he won't get it after giving up 7 runs in 3 2-3 innings to the offensive juggernaut that is the Toronto Blue Jays.

    Pastor:

That's for what, one three-game series?

Your comparison might have more merit if they were division opponents and had played each other for a few series.

Of course, then the numbers would also probably look a lot more similar.

    Angola:

Thanks for the heads up. Did not remember Wang starting.

    Cradle:

The simple answer is we're from AL cities, fans of AL teams, etc.
The other answer is that the National League is complete horseshit this year, and if I wanted to watch horseshit dressed up as parity, I'd watch the NFL.

Because the "Junior Circuit" is comprised of vastly superior teams. Any team entering the playoffs for the AL would bounce whoever the NL pennant winner is.

Now, let's take a look at the pitching, head to head:
    Yankees ERA: 3.48
    Twins ERA: 5.76

And let's look at how a few of those pitchers did against each other:
    Wang: 1.29 ERA, 7IP
    Mussina: 4.05 ERA, 6.2IP
    Santana: 5.68 ERA, 6.1IP
    Radke: 9.00 ERA, 6IP

The National League is horseshit? Do you not understand why the American League is referred to as the Junior Circuit? Now THAT'S some pussy baseball.

Never mind, I don't really want to get into it. I forgot this is the mature audiences thread.

Speaking of mature, James Loney now has 6 RBIs in two at-bats, filling in at first base to give Garciapara a day off before the Giants series.

That Yankee lineup from last night is the best lineup I have ever seen fielded in a non-All-Star baseball game.

You really shouldn't try and compare the NL with the AL this year. The shitty Boston Red Sox, who are now in third place in the AL East, went 17-2 vs. the NL this year. Also, I believe it is called the Junior Circuit only because the NAAAtional League is older.

I've seen so much stupidity on these baseball threads. And that took the cake.

    ::)

Four AL teams were under .500 against the NL.
Thirteen NL teams were under .500 against the AL.

Right. The AL is the "Junior Circuit." ::)

I might be pussy baseball, Cradle, but the simple fact is that the Chicago White Sox will not make the playoffs in the AL, while likely finishing with a record good enough to win any division in the National League.

I enjoy NL baseball, enjoy the exra strategy involved, enjoy all of it. This particular year, the Nl is embarassingly weak. Cincinnati is still alive for postseason contention despite being under .500. That's pussy baseball.

    Pastor:

One-game sample sizes, now? Want me to show stats from the one game the Twins beat the Yankees in that series? Would that prove anything?

The Yankees have the better hitting. The Twins have the better pitching, even without Liriano. We'll see who wins.

    Little baby seamhead.

I bet you look like John Clayton.

And all the football players were sooooooo mean to you in school.

So, you get 'em back every chance you can on your little anonymous message board.

Look, I grabbed stats in the head to head. Mussina and Wang, the Yankees two best pitchers threw in that series. Radke and Santana threw in that series. I only posted the numbers.

If you want to look at a full season, that is fine. The numbers are comparable. However, it should be pointed out that early in the season, teams were able to fatten up on the Royals. The Devil Rays would be the AL East's shit team, but early on they performed better than the Royals.

It should also be noticed that the Yankees had quite a few injuries during the season. So, when they brought up rookies like Melky Cabrera and were forced to play guys like Aaron Guiel, Andy Philips, the previous night's ground's keeper, etc., the team's average is going to drop.

The line-up that you see the last few nights is the line-up that will go into the playoffs.
