Quality headline on the Yankees MLB.com site right now. Check it out at http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/index.jsp?c_id=nyy
It is on the ARod story.

He probably enjoys mushrooms and a little A-1.

Yeah, the Yankees sure hit the hell out of Luke Hudson, and they are blasting Jorge De La Rosa to the tune of no runs through six innings.

What's gonna happen when they face a team with real starters and a major league bullpen?

They are going to have this lineup when they face a team with "real starters and a major league bullpen":
    1. Damon
    2. Jeter
    3. Abreu
    4. Giambi
    5. ARod
    6. Matsui
    7. Sheffield
    8. Posada
    9. Cano

With Melky Cabrera, Craig Wilson and Bernie Williams coming off the bench.

All teams go through slumps and it isn't like the Yankees are the only contending team to struggle with the Royals lately.

So you're saying New York's lineup tonight should expect not to beat the Royals?

New York Yankees ... one run against Kansas City starters in 12 2/3 innings.

No, I didn't say that. The Yankees should beat the Royals, but shit happens in baseball and over the last couple of years the Yankees have really struggled against pitchers they haven't faced. Whatever, at this point it doesn't matter much since they have a nine-game cushion over the Sox.

You're right that in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. But I would think the Yankees would expect more than to struggle against KC starting pitching.

Yeah, you are right. Looking at the matchups the Yankees probably figured they would sweep this series. Jeter had a chance to put the Yankees on the board but struck out to put him .002 behind Mauer. They were briefly tied for the lead at .345 earlier in the game.

Now Tyler Wellmeyer is wheeling and dealing against the Yankees. Maybe the Royals will bring in whoever it was that pitched last night.

I would hope not. Really, really hope not.

The Royals are trying to shut out the Yankees for only the third time all season. The other two starting pitchers in games it happened?
Florida's Anibal Sanchez and Baltimore's Loewen, whose first name I forgot.
