Rivera pitched to five batters Friday night and threw two innings yesterday. I don't think there was any way Torre was going to pitch the infallible( ::)) Mariano Rivera.

  2. To clarify, Prior did pitch at the end of last season after coming back from being hit by that line drive. This was his first start this year. So he hadn't pitched in the big leagues in about half a year.

I wasn't raising the point about the aborted Tejada trade or the Twins picking Mauer over Prior based just on this start. It was more an overall thing, factoring in his many trips to the DL and how the Cubs say he'll come back in X amount of time and it always winds up taking (much) longer. It was brought to a head by today's start and more importanty the fact that the fans booed Prior off the field, something I didn't think I'd see in a long time. It was mainly the booing off the field that made me wonder how fans would feel about the aborted trade and the draft now.

Trying to be objective for just a moment, hard as it is for a fanboy:

*He's had the glove from the start.

*At the start of the season, he was a little overmatched at the plate.  Particularly on two strikes.  Might as well have gone and sat down then.    He's become much more disciplined and much more comfortable to the point where he's an excellent two-strike hitter.  Had a clutch hit through a drawn in infield yesterday with two strikes to drive in a run. Had a two strike hit today.

Of course, it was 0-0 when he bombed the game winner.  Before he got into the box, Tom Paciorek said he'd become the guy you'd most like up in that situation.  And then BOOM.

Back to fanboy looser:  OH MY GOD.

But you don't have to be a fanboy to see this kid can fucking play.

Clarification: ONE inning yesterday. There WAS no bottom of the ninth. ;)

So Shawn Chacon, BYH's Money Pitcher, cost the Yankees TWO games by not getting out of the 5th inning Saturday with a 9-2 lead. Torre had NO bullpen today and Wang paid for it in the ninth.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of loosers.

I'm not getting in the middle of your pissing match because I can never tell when you guys are serious, but BYH did NOT call him a money pitcher. He merely pointed out that calling him (and Ortiz) non-money pitchers may not be fair.

And the first 10-game winner in the majors is.... Tom Glavine!

Glavine is 15 wins away from 300.

    CY - Glavine.
    ROY - Zimmerman.

You guys can figure out the rest.

Commence MY orgasmic writhings. OH MY GOD indeed!!!

(Confession: Glav's my favorite pitcher, has been since he started. And that would be win No. 285 for him. He's 15 away from the magic number, which is the LAST time we'll see anyone reach that milestone for at least three decades, maybe longer.)
