Really? Last I checked, Detroit owned the best record in baseball, going 9-1 in its last 10 games. There are three teams that can match it. None of them are the Mets -- Florida, Minnesota, Oakland.

Detroit's success comes with last year's World Series champs -- the White Sox -- in the same division, with the second-best record in the majors, no less.

The Mets are so good they lost two of three to the suck ass Orioles, and were it not for one mistake, a thigh-high fastball down the middle from a rookie, they'd have probably been swept at home.

I'd vote Lou Whitaker and Willie Randolph into the HOF before Jeff Kent. Bish.

And don't forget Cleveland's in that division too. They may be 11 games back and their record may not show it, but the Indians aren't a bad team.

I wasn't speaking about W_L records, which are pretty meaningless outside your own division with unbalanced schedules. Chicago is very good but the AL Central remains baseball's worst division. Detroit and Chicago get more opportunities to beat up on the Royals and Twins, and the Indians it appears were way overrated, too. Those three teams -- Royals, Twins and Indians -- have three of the four worst staff ERAs in the AL.

Detroit, Chicago and Minnesota are a combined 16-3 in interleague play. Detroit is 18-13 outside the division in AL play, Chicago is 18-11 and the Twins are 21-15.

Yeah, they can't beat ANYONE outside the Tribe and Royals.

p.s. The Twins just last week swept the Red Sox, who are 3-6 against the AL Central. Just saying.

I'd take the AL Central, warts, err Royals and all, over the NL East.

    Or the NL West.

Cranberry, you tout the Mets, but not one team in that NL East -- not one -- has a winning mark in games against the NL Central.

The Phillies are a .500 team, which puts them second in the NL East. The Twins are a .500 team, which puts them third in the AL Central. The Mets aren't the best team in baseball. And the facts show that the division argument you're using against the Tigers and White Sox might hold more truth with the Mets than you think.

And you're making an idiot out of yourself.

Obviously Oz isn't alone, as evidenced by the post below.

Bronson Arroyo has done that to everyone though.

How about that Reds GM the past handful of months.... Bronson Arroyo and Brandon Phillips ... for what again?
