They haven't gained that much on Chicago either. Tigers are 9-1 in their last 10. Sox are 8-2.

In addition to 10 runs and four home runs today, Tiger pitcher Zach Miner goes the distance, and retired 20 straight batters before the ninth inning, when Milwaukee got its run.

Miner is now 3-0 since coming up from Toledo to replace the injured Maroth.

The Marlins are 7 games under .500.

    Incredible.

Sort of building a buzz toward being a look-out team in 2007.

So with the tying and go-ahead runs on in the ninth, Joe Mauer hit a grounder to the shortstop.
If that were fucking A-Rod we'd have a separate thread on how how chokies.

Instead, I'll just say ... further proof that it's a SOFT .378. No. 3 hitter who does not drive in runs.

The tying run scored on a wild pitch. Mauer had nothing to do with it.

The Royals should have joined the National League - they've won three of their last four, including two at Houston before rolling Pittsburgh tonight.

    C'mon, Zeke. That's A_F-like contradiction right there.

Lidge uncorks WP, Twins lead .... he beat the throw which allowed the tying run to score

Hit a scorcher to short ... I didn't see the play. DUH!

Good God, if your brain operates this slow, I'd hate to be behind you on the road.

ARod is the highest-paid player in the history of professional sports and has a resume a mile long of flopping in the clutch. Mauer is in, what, his second injury-free year? Oh yeah, we should hold Mauer to the same standard as ARod.

You can compare the two if you like. Then get around to comparing apples and oranges. Doddering dickhead.

By the way, Dickhead, after driving in 7 runs tonight against the Yankees, Ryan Howard "choked" when he grounded out to end the game with the tying runs on base aganst Rivera.

And if a fucking guy is hitting .380 shouldn't he be expected to drive in a run once every 5 ro 6 games?

Well, not if he's a leadoff hitter.

Oh, Mauer isn't a leadoff hitter? Nevermind, then.

THAT'S BECAUSE THEIR OFFENSE SUCKS, GRAMPY!!!!!

They rank 11th in the league in runs scored. Their big off-season signees, Tony Batista and RonDL White, have been released and are about to be released, respectively. The leadoff hitter has missed a chunk of the season and Ron Gardenhire has an unhealthy fascination with Lew Ford. THE OFFENSE SUCKS!!!

And Mauer has a team-high 19 doubles, leading one to believe the HR surge may be forthcoming. He's also drawn more walks than strikeouts and has even swiped six bases. And, oh yeah, HE'S A FUCKING CATCHER!!! which makes this .380 about the most legit .380 since you were covering Rogers Hornsby.

You probably remember the last time a catcher won the batting title. You were in your third or fourth retirement when Yogi won the crown.

I'll type this in all caps and hopefully you have the magnifying glass working today:

JOE MAUER IS A LEGIT FUCKING BALLPLAYER WHO IS ANYTHING BUT A SOFT .380 HITTER. He is not some stat-padding softie who always crumbles at crunch time.

God, you're stupid sometimes. And by sometimes, I mean every time you hit "post" here.

(next by Spnited: Why Rogers Hornsby's .424 was a soft .424, by someone who chronicled every hit)
