Hey bud, we all understand you hate ARod. Maybe you are Tom Hicks, I don't know. But Jesus Christ, chill the fuck out. You are sitting here trying to tell us that because Joe Mauer is a catcher he shouldn't be held responsible for not getting the "clutch" hit. If you are trying to win the batting title, then obviously, you should come through in the clutch. ARod is not a "stat-padding softie who always crumbles at crunch time" he is exactly what you said he is: The highest paid player in professional sports who is held to a higher standard.
If we started threads about everytime a "superstar (and I use quotes because Mauer may be good, but just because he has 19 fucking doubles doesn't mean he is about to hit 20 homers and sure as fuck ain't a superstar)" underperforms in the clutch, then this board wouldn't have any threads but baseball threads.
Fine, neat, we get it, you hate ARod and you Spnited, that doesn't mean you need to come on here and give your asinine statements about how ARod sucks because he allegdly doesn't hit in the clutch. Just go back to Boston and suck on Ortiz's d*** and you'll be fine.

I'm not here to suck Ortiz' dick, or the dick of anyone else. I'm not sure how you can follow the game, though, and not see how Ortiz was more valuable to his team last year, in ALL facets of the game, than ARod. And don't get me going on the last 3 1/2 games of the 2004 ALCS.

And genius: Mauer is on pace for 48 2Bs and 13 HRs. Pretty good for a catcher, no? Fun fact: Brian Roberts hit 47 or 48 2Bs (can't remember the exact figure) the year before his power surger in 2005.

As for grampy: Maybe Mauer will hit for as much power as Reyes when he's had a comparable # of games under his belt. Mauer has 227 big league games, Reyes has played 350 games. You ever think of that, doddering old fool? Criticizing Mauer for a lack of power and comparing him to Reyes is stupid even by your low standards.

 

Maer is 6-4, 220-pounds and a No. 3 hitter.
Reyes is 6-feet and a 160 pounds and a leadoff hitter
They are the same age.
But the little guy has better power numbers than the big soft guy.

Oh, BYH, I may be a newbie in posts, but that doesn't mean I'm a newbie to the board. We've had it out in past reincarnations on this topic, so I'll leave the trolling to you.
Mauer is good and I won't deny that, I just think it is funny that you are trying to compare him to ARod. Why not try comparing him to Jorge "I piss on my hands" Posada and see where his numbers stack up. Sure, he has a much higher average, but what about those power numbers?
Anwyay, the reason we can all tell you are a Red Sox fan and want to do who knows what to Ortiz is how you keep bringing up the 2004 ALCS. If you had read any of my past posts in your other thread on this subject, you would know that you should also look to Sheffield and Matsui for also taking giant shits in the postseason ever since Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS. In fact, when did I ever even bring up the 2004 ALCS in my angry rant? Oh that's right, I didn't. Well, keep pushing that 2004 ALCS BS, and as far as Big Poopie being the MVP last year, how can you even say he was better in all facets of the game than ARod when he only plays first base 10 times a year during inter-league? That is one of the worst things I've ever heard on this board.

 

I hate to continue my rants, but nice try to you BYH. Come back in a year and see? What will we see, Mauer's panties in a bunch again because he is hurt?
