What I said Chris, if you were paying attentnion, is you can not compare the career accomplishments of a 2+ year player and a 12+ year all-time great. That's what "on the same level" means to me.

A-Rod, at age 23, was in the midst of his second 40+ HR, 120+ RBI season....which Wright might approach this year.
Right now and for the next 10-12 years, I'll gladly take Wright.

Shouldn't Joe Mauer and his soft .380 be considered right up there too? :D

    Don't get me started, Hank.

    And he's down to .370

and I will not mention that he has 1 HR and 6 RBI in June... 1 single fucking RBI in the past two weeks.

Wright is on pace for one A-Rod-caliber year.

    LONG way to go.

  5. If you had to pick one 3rd baseman for your team right now who do you pick? I'd take Wright. I happen to think that RIGHT NOW Wright is a better player than A-Rod.

I'm not taking about careers. I'm talking right now. I would also say it should be obvious that Wright will continue to get better while A-Rod will continue to look like he's retaining water and about to cry from all the booing he's getting in the Bronx.

Easy to pick the young guy.

  7. Say if it was just for 2006 or 2007 - I still pick Wright.

Hey - is Edwin Jackson cooked? It was an arm injury right? I remember when he was the top prospect in baseball and the Dodgers could have gotten a ton for him in a trade.

    How's it go?

There's no such thing as a pitching prospect?

This is my nightmare -- the Braves have zoomed straight to oblivion (as opposed to wherever the Royals are) and Tom Glavine the greedy bastard is 11-2 and will probably start the all-star game. I have to give the guy credit, as much as I 've come to loathe him, he solidifies his hall of fame case with every start.

  10. The Mets have to be happy seeing how Glavine has not won more than 13 games in any season since joining the Mets in 2003. His win last night tied Glavine with Robin Roberts for 26th place on the all-time list. His next win ties him with Bert Blyleven for 25th and 2 wins puts him into a tie for 24th place with Tommy John.

Suppan throws 37 pitches in the first inning against the Tigers.

Yeah, but as soon as I was getting excited, they're teeing off in the fifth.

    Good while it lasted.
