Kansas City 8, St. Louis 7.

LaRussa wins game for Kansas City.

Royals now guarantee a winning record in interleague play, telling us once again, how pisspoor the National League is.

will all the AJ haters please eat shit? dude is fucking money, unfortunately you haven't come to terms yet. you hate him because he's not on your squad. he was money in minneapolis, had a bad year in sf, and stepped back into form with the white sox. you haters hate his success.

no... pretty much everyone in baseball hates aj because he's an ass

i was talking to some players one day about that, and guy says, 'was i happy barrett did it? well, let me ask around." he then went to four guys playing cards and said, 'were you happy barrett coldcocked aj?' the response was, 'who wasn't?' and the other guys agreed. another piped up, 'i fuckin' guarantee you barrett didn't pay a cent of his fine -- hell, i'll chip in if he did'

I've got to admit, the Tigers have snuck up on me. I've got to make a point to watch them some this week.

    Just wondering:
The Nats hit the break last year at 52-36 and finished 81-81

The Tigers are 55-26 with a week to go before the break.
I know they're pitching is quite good but this team seems to be playing way over its head. Would a sub-.500 (not quite Nats-like) second half surprise anyone?

I also realize if they go 40-41 from right now on, they win 95 and probably make the playoffs as the AL wild card.

as a white sox fan, i admit, that's probably not going to happen. the tigers are better than that. but pudge isn't AJ, the biggest clutch hitting catcher in the al. joe mauer? he'll have his time...

One minor "wildcard" with the Tigers is Justin Verlander. His arm started to go dead at the end of last year because he had never pitched a whole lot of innings in a season. It is a real concern, and they are really staying up top of how many innings he pitches this year. He just passed 100 innings. Can he give them 200+ and keep pitching this well?

Frustration is watching the Cardinals pull an almighty tank job and the Brewers are not doing much to pounce.

Yes, they're 4 1/2 out and in the Wild Card picture (who, besides the Pirates, in the NL isn't?), but oh do I wish the Brewers had a healthy pitching staff to take advantage of the Cards' swoon.

Nats last year had a little smoke and mirrors thing going. I think the Tigers are more legit. All the Nats needed was a .500 second half for the playoffs last year. I think the Tigers are capable of at least that much this year.

The Nats just plain suck this year but at least Nick Johnson provides me with a momentary woody now and then, like Zimmerman did a couple of weeks ago. I was excited about the future with new ownership but the group's first move doesn't thrill me.

And the Best Fans in Baseball.

By the way, the Royals (if you can believe it) are no longer the worst team in baseball. Their winning percentage is .342 (27-52) to Pittsburgh's .341 (28-54). And KC swept the Pirates.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Gary Matthews Jr. catch...wow.
