No argument about his range, but Jeter ranks third among AL SS in slugging percentage and first among all big league SS in on-base percentage.

agree to disagree. i'm no a-rod basher. i'm just judging jeter on what i've seen of him. and his post-season numbers -- 115 games worth -- are top-notch. considering the pitching faced in the post-season, combined with the heightened pressure, i contend jeter's special by any measure. 8) 8) 8)

Well if things hold up tonight the Mets will have lost six out of seven. But hell Willie seems to think he's got games to give.

Nobody else in that division is going to finish .500. Even the Mets can't fuck this up enough to fail to reach 82 wins (though I'll laugh like hell if they manage to do so).

Speaking of Met fuckups: Scott Kazmir tosses a two-hit shutout and whiffs 10 against the sizzling Red Sox tonight.

    Nice trade, Jeffy Wilpon!!!

Which is why the Mets probably won't ever trade Pelfrey. But then, it is the Mets.

You're really ahead of the curve on this one...

Too bad the DRays already traded Mark Hendrickson.

Maybe they can send Pelfrey to Tampa for Jae Seo!! Peterson and Randolph loved him so much the first time around!  :D

BTW, Pirates 11, Mets 1. Who would win a best-of-seven between the Royals and the Mets?

Edit: Nafselon, I'm sorry, but some trades are so dogass awful--and were so dogass awful from the moment they were executed--that the teams that got rooked deserve to be mocked for it until the end of time.

I got over the Kazmir trade a long tme ago... ancient history.
Besides, when the D-Rays can no longer afford him, the Mets can always sign him.

But, meanwhile, fuck Jeff Wilpon and Jim fucking interim GM/puppet Duquette.

I hope Kazmir goes anywhere but the Mets on mere principle (I know, I know: I'm so naive).

As for Duquette, I think you're being a bit unfair. When the guy has a million know-nothings--all above him on the totem pole--telling him to pull the trigger, what choice does he have?

Edit: Joe Mauer homered? But he's a soft .390 hitter!!!! :D

Not anymore. 3-run homer, 5-3 in the sixth.
