He still has fewer home runs and only 2 more RBI that Jose fucking Reyes!

Gotta love those 6-4, 220-pound singles hitters.

By the way zeke, how many games have the Twins gained on the Tigers and White Sox during their winning streak?

I like it. If you can get a screen shot of Metallica's cover of "Turn The Page," I'll be really impressed. That, or find a picture of the guy from Disturbed.  :D

Tigers lose, Twins win again. And Minnesota vaults to 10 games back of first place (oh, and seven back of second place).

Rod Carew finished with double-digit home runs totals in only two seasons -- 1975 and 1977, when he hit 14 in both on his way to batting .359 and .388, respectively. OK, Carew was smaller, and he stole 353 bases. But if being a good baseball player is about doing your job while helping your team win games, then what's the problem?

Last I checked, the Twins won 21 of their last 23 games.

OK, so Mauer's got a big frame and not hitting home runs. He's 23 fricking years old. Give him some time. Just look at what happened to Alexis Rios, who entered the 2006 season with only 11 home runs in the big leagues and 27 as a pro. But then something clicked, and those doubles turned into home runs with more frequency. In time, Mauer will make a similar progression.

    Sounds like a keeper, Zeke.

Amazing how much time is spent debating the worth of a catcher hitting damn near .400. I'm no Twins fan, but I mean, come on, give the guy his due.

Agree...trememdous. Like others said, it's ridiculous Mauer isn't an All-Star starter.

Orlando Cabrera's reached base safely in 60 straight games. Longest such "streak" since 1960.

    It's a soft 60-game streak, though.

If the Twins and their fans had gotten off their butts and voted, Mauer could have been the starting catcher*.
You were allowed to vote up to 25 times on line and some teams ran campaigns to get their guys elected (like the Pirates and Jason Bay) and the Mets who actually did a "vote early, vote often" promo for mets.com and losmets.com (their spanish language website!)

    * He absolutely should be the starter, but don't let the ilk know I said that.
