Zeke should be happy to learn that Boof was banished to the minors today.

And DAMN! Jason Bartlett has had a couple fantastic plays at SS since I got home and flipped on the Twins game. And Mauer had a golf-like hit for his two RBIs.

Leo, take heart. Both the Sox and Tigers are ripe for a slump anytime. ;)

And that the Twins won't have to play those dangerous Royals again until Aug. 3. ;)

The Reds season ended last night.

As bad as the starting pitching has been in recent years, it has never, ever come close to the suckitude produced nightly by this abomination called a bullpen.

But, let's not put the blame just on the pen. Jason LaRue has to shoulder a lot of it himself. Why he's playing over David Ross perplexes me. The guy can't hit himself out of a paper bag and he blew two chances to give the Reds a win last night.

He really should be DFA'ed. I know it would be expensive, but it would be well worth it.

I'm surprised nobody on the board has commented on this but, according to Jason Stark (and a few other sources), Jim Hendry has said he will be spending the next week or so re-evaluating the Cubs' managerial situation. But, according to Jason, don't expect Lou Piniella to be hired (if anybody is) because Lou won't give up the money the Devil Rays are paying him NOT to manage.

So what do you experts think? Does Dusty get fired or not?

It's buried way back on Page 3 and the thread title is so vague (I'm breing nice here) that you'd have no idea what is was, but the (s)C(r)ubs' fans have already had their little fire Dusty party.
Of course, the (s)C(r)ubs will still suck no matter who the manager is.

Anyone with half a brain would only need about five seconds to evaluate Baker, and then pick up the phone to fire him. He's been nothing short of terrible.

And the bitch of it is, at least if you're a Reds fan, is that Ricky Weeks' shitty fielding nearly gifted a win to the Reds.

Ricky giveth, then he taketh away. My kids were asleep so I did a silent celebration in my living room.

If the Brewers take three-of-four or sweep the Cubs this weekend, they're back in the mix.

Damn, arrested pretty much immediately after the game was over. Wasn't Jerry Narron was talking with him at length in the dugout after the game? That's what it looked like on the Reds broadcast.

At least MPD got some free baseball out of it.
