Couldn't tell much from Pelfrey's debut. Got the win in the blowout, and pretty much held it together.

Seems like he's he's got all the tools to be the ace of the Mets' staff in 2-3 years, if you have any faith in a half-year in the minors and a great college career at Whichita State.

I'd like to see him get another start or two, which seems probable, considering the Mets are killing the awful NL East. If he looks halfway descent, he should get that fifth spot in the rotation to bolster his opportunity to be a real factor in 2007.

He might get lit up, but certainly no worse that Soler or Maine......

Best part is, we got plenty of time to work out the details. All I know is, Liriano is somewhere else compared to most everyone else. All the attention that went to The Rocket in his debut should have been on the other guy. Santana won a Cy Young based on a strong second-half performance. I can see Liriano doing the same here -- unless Santana shows him up.

Re: Pelfrey, Soler's definitely out of the picture, like Lima Time. He sunk in no time. And Maine? Eh. Pelfrey just might be given a shot in this rotation sooner than later now.

I think we should bet on the ROY exclusively, though I'm open to suggestions.

It would be remarkable if Liriano lost the ROY but won the Cy Young.

Tigers hold on for a 2-1 win over Seattle. Betacourt drives a two-out pitch just short of a home run, but ends up in Gomez' glove to end the game.

I'm good with that. So obviously Weaver going to win it now when both tank late. :D

I really, really liked how Yooneeyeskee pointed to his dugout while he was running to first like he just hit a game-tying home run. Oops.

Another shocking development from the Cubs: Mark Prior scratched from his start today with an oblique strain.

And Chris Capuano finally gets the spot he deserves on the All-Star team ... in the place of Glavine, who is starting today and would be unavailable on Tuesday.

I'm just surprised Phil Garner didn't opt for Andy Pettitte or Wandy Rodriguez over Capuano.

Patterson pulled after one inning - with a 3-1 lead. He threw 30-some pitches to get through the first and was lucky to get out of it with just one run. Nats come back with three and he's gone. No word on why but I don't guess it's good.

    Shit.

  11. Moddy - you may be happy to know that Jason Stark is pimping Ryan Zimmerman as his first half NL ROY

Good thing I never took him off my DL in one of my fantasy leagues.
