    Homer: You're Darryl Strawberry.
    Darryl: Yes.
    Homer: You play right field.
    Darryl: Yes.
Homer: I play right field, too.
    Darryl: So?
Homer: Well, are you better than me?
Darryl: Well, I never met you... but... Yes.

Actually, it doesn't. The Tigers' road uniforms in 1969 were strictly navy and grey, no orange or white anywhere on the uniform, with a block-letter "DETROIT" and the uniform number on one sleeve. That's what they wore Sunday.

EDIT: I get it now, about 10 second after I first posted. You must have thought the Tigers were wearing the home uni. The game was in Seattle, so the Tigers wore the old road unis, which have seen some modifications over the years.

Huff to Houston for 2 minor leaguers. I was hoping the Yanks could get him. Does this mean they gave up on Lane? Anyone know anything about the minor leaguers.

Seeing as how they optioned Lane out, I'd say yes.

So in our roto league, we're allowed to add one minor-leaguer to our roster at the A-S break. I'm going down the list of AAA teams to look at stats of guys and am struck on the Pirates' AAA team, the Indianapolis Indians.

Man alive, what kind of dreckish farm system are the Pirates building? Pirates fans, this is what you have to look forward to:

Trust me, Pirates fans already knew this before you posted it.

  7. Huff to the Astros, eh? You'd think they would play Ensberg at third, then Lamb/Berkman, Wilson and Taveras in the outfield. Adding Huff just seems to further muddy the situation.

For what it's worth their AA team might be a better barometer of how good their system is. Most teams stock their AAA teams with spare parts and retreads they might need for a quick call-up. Very few true prospects spend an overabundance of time in AAA anymore.

AQB is right. Just look at the Mets, who promoted Mike Pelfrey and Henry Owens straight from Double-A last week.

Triple-A these days is an unofficial casting call for Crash Davis 2: Electric Boogaloo.

As for the Huff trade, I've read Astros GM Tim Purpara says Ensberg is heading to the bench. Huff appears to have peaked in 2004, but he killed in interleague play so maybe two more months of NL pitching will further revive his career. It'll be interesting to see how he fares in a pennant race for the first time ever.

By the way, let's let these go to 50 pages from now on. We get to 40 awfully fast.

Carry on. Just had to make some sort of decision today.

Makes sense. I really don't see Chris Truby getting too many more chances. ::)

I can't decide which is more pathetic: That Indianapolis is giving regular ABs to Chris Richard...or Raul Gonzalez.
