I really loved watching the Suns play from about 2004-2008.

It's a shame Nash and Amar'e didn't get to play in the Finals at least once.

Became a Kansas fan when I was in grade school in a small town near Wichita in the mid-60s. Nothing, not even '08, will top Danny and the Miracles in 1988. First half of the final against OU might have been the greatest 20 minutes of basketball I've ever seen.

I probably watched the VHS recording of that game 500 times as a kid.

They also had Jeffty Connolly and Rich Grande, who were like a freshman Fab Five. Connolly was pretty good and transferred to Santa Clara. Grande wasn't very good and stayed. One year, Gathers, Kimble, Lewis and Connolly were all on the WCC all-tournament team.
George Raveling, who otherwise is a great guy, ran them all off when he replaced Stan Morrison. Morrison's recruiter, Stan (??) Stewart, brought them all in. Raveling hinted that there were some under-the-table payments and with NCAA sanctions looming, he was forced to take away their scholarships.
Those were great times to cover L.A. college basketball.

Then some genius in the front office thought trading for Shaq was a great idea. Goodbye, seven seconds or less.

It's like the Progressive Insurance Box started a basketball thread.

Is Hickory High the most overrated team in fictional hoop history? They would have got beat by Carver by 20, even if Salami was hungover.
