I bought a bunch of them to put in our candy jar for our Super Bowl party!

He's 15-3 in the playoffs. The only QB with more than two postseason wins with a better winning percentage is Bart Starr (9-1).

And why wouldn't they. That's what makes Shanahan's decision to take the ball doubly stupid. You're going to not only give an extra down on each series to Andy Reid and PATRICK MAHOMES, but you're also going to give him final say with one play at the three-yard line. Makes zero fucking sense. But apparently no one on the 49ers had a clue about the playoff OT rules anyway.

as a KC fan, my immediate reaction.. too much joy the 49ers wanted the ball.

Yes, but that's not my question. If they ran a commercial, it's obvious they have the money to do it.

My question is whether it's cost-effective for them to do it. Is the return more than the investment?

The debate about whether the Niners should have given the Chiefs the ball first is an odd one. The defense was gassed, had just given up a game-tying score. The only argument I'd say for playing defense first is giving Mahomes four downs to rip you a new one, rather than three.

Not for nothing, but assuming this is accurate, there were four teams that didn't attempt a two-point conversion in the NFL this season, and two of them were playing last night.

I don't really have a horse in this race, I tend to lean towards the idea of trying to score first and then relying on your top-notch defense to get a stop with a championship on the line. But maybe the 49ers were confident in their ability to score a TD, boot the XP and then stop the two-point conversion if the Chiefs scored. Of course, given how Shanahan and his crew of super geniuses worked 168 hours a week and still didn't know the OT rules for the playoffs, maybe not.

There were roughly six and a half minutes between the last defensive snap in the regulation and what would have been the first defensive snap in OT. Both defenses are gassed as compared to where they were in the first half, but at this stage of the game six and a half minutes is decent time for a rest, especially if it keeps Mahomes from gaining an advantage. At least that's my opinion.

I've been asking that about Coca-Cola for half my life.

I mean, who DOESN'T know about it? You either like it, and buy it, or you don't. Is the $645 million they spend on advertising in a year bringing in $645 million NEW customers (and/or retaining $645 million worth of existing customers)?

I question that even more for the He Gets Us ad. It's well known that the evangelical world sits on mountains of money, but is this the best use of it? If I had given money to He Gets Us, I'd be interested to have a discussion about the return expected from spending tens of millions of dollars on a Super Bowl ad instead of, say, buying food or clothes or foot baths or whatever for the people you're ostensibly trying to help.
