Make that two. They're also inviting University of the Incarnate Word

No word on whether U of New Orleans makes three

Can't say I'm too surprised by this. ACU is normally a pretty good D-II football program. Give them a few years and they'll probably be competitive in that conference. Incarnate Word is in San Antonio, as I recall, so that would add a major metropolitan city to the conference's footprint. As for New Orleans, I didn't know they were coming back to Division I. Last I'd heard about them they were in D-III.

They were going to drop to D-III, then decided they would go to D-II, but they changed their minds in the spring and decided to stay in D-I. They were transitioning but still D-I, so they won't have to re-transition, if I understand correctly.

Well, good. They were in the Sun Belt (I think?) before they started having all their financial issues that made them look at dropping to D-III. Glad to see they're going to be able to stay up in D-I after all.

Looks like the WAC is going to do the obvious:

The WAC could probably pull in all four Dakota schools - UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU - for non-football sports. UND is in the Great West and the other three are in the Summit League.

North Dakota and Southern Utah are now full members of the Big Sky Conference. Cal Poly and UC Davis are also in the Big Sky for football, Big West for all other sports. I don't think the Great West exists any more.

It does still exist as a non-football conference. And they apparently suck at updating their webiste because UND's logo is still on it.

For sure. Most of these schools are just trying to rake in enough dough to break even on the athletic budget and justify their existence.

Outside of the students, parents and alums, few people give a darn what conference they play in.

Apparently the Jaguars are going to play a game a year in London through 2016. Pretty desperate of the Big East if you ask me.
