Hell I'm in north texas and can get the Big 10 Network but not the Longhorn Network. Their reach as a conference is pretty impressive.

I already get the B1G network here in Connecticut and I assume its available in NYC (maybe someone from there can weigh in), so all those alums already would have an outlet to see those games, no?

Big Ten Network has a two-tier rate structure. In states outside the conference footprint, the charge to cable systems is nominal. For states in Big Ten territory, fees are much higher.

In Big Ten markets, BTN is most likely on basic cable as opposed to being available through a sports package or a-la-cart options. Which means higher rates and more money.

The Big Ten will still suck, comparatively speaking. It's conference RPI will sink another notch or two.

I don't know either guy, but a shout out to Jeff Barker at The Baltimore Sun and newbie Alex Prewitt at The Washington Post for really owning this story locally. They've been miles ahead of other local outlets, particularly Jeff.

Well, it is about Maryland athletics. 49 states didn't give a shit.

No, I mean locally. Barker's been all over this from the beginning, and I appreciate his efforts.

Inside Maryland Sports, one of the 24x7 sites, had this back on Thursday. The first I heard about it anywhere else was on Saturday.

So what kind of made-up trophies will Maryland and Rutgers be playing for?
