Wonder if UConn's APR-related ban from the NCAA tournament might have anything to do with it. The two basketball programs by themselves would've been good adds, but the ACC definitely needs football help.

I figured Louisville was always headed to the Big 12 and UConn would be the first choice for the ACC.

The rumor is Cincinnati is trying to jump ahead of anyone else to be the ACC's first choice.

I thought it was interesting that UConn did not receive an invite right after Maryland left. If it is all about TV, Hartford/New Haven are somewhere between 25-30; no idea where Louisville ranks. If it does come down to APR, does that mean Jim Calhoun cost UConn a chance at the ACC?

On a list of the top 1,000 reasons for all this conference realignment BS, academics is No. 1,001.

    UMad?

Don't know why they are bothering. I'm putting together a super conference with Fordham, Drexel, Tufts, Emory, Houston Baptist, Chicago State and Cal-Irvine. Pretty much I'll own the universe.

It has certainly been a factor for the Big Ten. Not No. 1, but not No. 1001 either.

And that was widely regarded as a primary reason the ACC turned down WVU's public lobbying. Sure, it wouldn't have been a large footprint expansion, but it would have provided a school with travelling fans, rivalries with conference schools, and some national brand awareness (often negative, I know). Plus, we'd have a place to send our old couches for disposal.

Every conference needs a Cousin Eddie. WVU would have been a natural.

It's official. Louisville to the ACC. So basically, the Big East is now Conference USA North.

    Middle Tennessee to Conference USA?

    http://hamptonroads.com/2012/11/sources-conference-usa-adds-middle-tennessee-state

Adding MTSU would give CUSA 13 members Per the story, FAU & New Mexico State could be candidates for spot No. 14.
