No one mentioned UMKC to the WAC? For shame!

Mediocre might be a stretch. I know people roll their eyes at recruiting rankings, and they vary wildly with each service. But the one I saw yesterday was again top-heavy with SEC schools. The second-worst showing was Kentucky, at No. 28 nationally. Mizzou was 20 spots lower.

Well I'm sure your observations of a game you watched on TV 14 months ago are more valid than my observations of being in the actual stadium at the time.

I would have thought that was an odd decision, since Denver is making the opposite move, leaving the WAC for the Summit. But apparently the Summit might be circling the drain:

I'm somewhat impressed the WAC was able to stave off extinction, but that's one rag-tag group of schools. It's like the Great West but with a history. The Dakota States moving to the MoValley would not be the worst move in the world, especially if Creighton's all but gone to the Catholic 7/Big Priest/Holy CAA/whatever we end up calling this.

  7. From that article, Nebraska-Omaha and SIU-Edwardsville could be WAC bound.

He mentions Evansville to the Horizon from the MVC. Anything's possible, but I seriously doubt it without Butler in the Horizon. That was the whole appeal to Evansville in the first place.

And while Creighton would undoubtedly jump to the Catholic 7, the timeline for that is so nebulous right now, I'm not sure it can be counted on as imminent.

The WAC will never survive UT-Arlington jumping to the Sun Belt. :D

The odd thing is, the best thing the WAC has going for it is its name.
There is a book in the history of the conference. From the early days with BYU, the Zonas, Colorado State, the Holiday Bowl and rise to national recognition, then the expansion to 16 and absorption of the Big West, the defection of the OGs to the Mountain West, BYU going independent and now the remnants full of hyphens.

That's about all UMKC has going for it too, it's mascot:
