BCS leagues expanding - yeah?

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Moderator1, Apr 19, 2010.

  1. The BCS berth only matter for next year, anyway. I don't know why so much focus is on that.

I reckon the football schools could license the Big East name for football only, for 2013.

Naahhh... Just tweak the logo and little and they're good to go.

With their focus on television markets over good quality and established programs, it's quite fitting.

That and four former members of the Metro - not counting soon-to-depart Louisville - are or will be in the Big East after the Catholic 7 leave - Cincinnati, South Florida, Tulane and Memphis.

Mike DeCourcy makes the argument that the top of the Metro 9 (UConn, Cincy, Memphis, Temple) is every bit as good as the top of the Big East (Georgetown, Marquette, Butler, Villanova). That the only real difference is perception.

His argument is hurt by the fact that of the teams currently in the Big East Georgetown and Marquette are first and third and UConn and Cincy are 7th and 11th.

Of course two of the three worst teams in the league are Catholic 7 squads - Seton Hall & DePaul.

ESPN has it on their website that the football schools will get a chunk of cash and the Catholics remain the Big East.

Tulsa has to be the 12th school the former Big East wants. And they'll split into two six-team leagues.

Let's see: Conn., Cincy, S. Fla., C. Fla., Navy and Temple in the East; Houston, SMU, Memphis, E. Carolina, Tulsa and Tulane in the West.

    C-USA 2.0.

So nine former CUSA schools, right? Only UConn, Temple & Navy never played in CUSA I believe.

Army was CUSA for football only, briefly. (AQB beat me to it)
