I just wonder how many people --- even living within the geographic footprint --- could list the member schools in either the Atlantic Sun or the Big South. Much less the strengths and weaknesses of each.

I could, but that's unfair, seeing as I covered the Big South extensively for seven years.

    Meet the "American Athletic Conference."

    http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-college-football/22001257/old-big-east-to-be-renamed-american-athletic-conference

Close enough to "Conference USA," isn't it?

  4. AAC sounds right.

Bill the Cat has no idea what you're talking about.

"Conference USA 2.0" would have worked better. It's more accurate.

I wonder how many people, even those living in the geographic footprint, knew the Atlantic Sun conference existed? Since I have absolutely no idea which schools belong to the Atlantic Sun I don't even know if I live in the geographic footprint.

Winner! After all, they're part of the same organization as the ACC, the MAC and the MAAC.

If you can see the Atlantic Ocean or the sun then you're in their geographic footprint.

MVC has found its replacement for Creighton in ...

    UIC.

Meanwhile, Oakland will soon follow the time-honored tradition of bolting the Summit for the Horizon.

And with Big Ten football teams no longer playing FCS teams, Youngstown State will probably move up to FBS and find a conference with football to play in.

Where'd you see the UIC thing? Only reports I can find mention UIC, Valpo, Loyola and UMKC as schools the Valley is looking at as replacements.
