I could see Texas joining the SEC (they're dumb enough to join a league where they'd guarantee themselves fourth in the SEC West every year), but wouldn't the Sooners bolting run into the same legislature issues regarding Oklahoma State, which I'm sure the SEC wants nothing to do with? Honestly, the best way to do this would probably be for Texas and Missouri to trade. Texas gets its A&M game and all the Finebaum BS, Missouri gets out of a league in which they're getting pasted and back in a situation that suits them.

I mean, Baylor, ISU, the Kansases, the Oklahomas, TCU, Tech, West By God and Missouri is a fairly coherent league.

Mizzou isn’t getting off the SEC gravy train.

Mizzou ain't leaving the SEC by anything less than gunpoint — and maybe not even then.

My uneducated 500 miles away guess is that Okie Lite doesn’t have nearly the same amount of dick to swing in state politics and OU could bolt on its own for what is clearly a superior opportunity.

I do wonder if the ACC the feels a need to shore up its mediocre football offerings by adding West Virginia, and maybe UCF or Cincy to go with them.

Without its two big money schools, the Big 12 comes crashing down like a house of cards. Hard to see it remaining viable as a P5 conference. It might remain one in name only, but it'll still be a one-bid league in a 12-team playoff.

Mizzou hasn’t been getting pasted in the SEC, especially in football. Jeesh.

This would be a break of policy for the SEC. Of course, there are no traditions or policies anymore, but historically, they've been loyal and protective of their own in recent expansions. Didn't take FSU, for example. The ACC was more than willing to undercut one of its own, Virginia, when it took the Hokies.
The SEC's terse no-comment suggests it's real. So does Oklahoma State's salvo of a statement. If state politics were going to block OU from going alone (without Cowboyville), there wouldn't be a need for this:

The B1G has no interest whatsoever in K-State, OkState or especially Iowa State. And really only minimal interest in KU.
