Naw. The Houston Chronicle's A&M writer broke the story and A&M's AD just happened to be at media days? It seems like there may have been some rumors circulating but I think it's a safe bet that story was based off an A&M leak that was leaked in an effort to get some exposure/pressure. Hell, Jimbo may have had that line in his back pocket as he went to the podium. If UT leaked that story, there are about a dozen outlets that would have gotten it before the Chronicle.

Another reason for the Democrats to stay out of state. And how's the infrastructure bill doing?

What are they going to do? Tell the SEC where they can shove it?

I smell a big lawsuit coming from TAMU claiming they were promised by the SEC they would remain the only Texas team in the league

Perhaps, but absent something in writing I don't think it will go very far even if various vague promises were made when TAMU signed up. I am not a lawyer but when two sides disagree on an oral promise the default is the written agreement.

And even if TAMU was promised was the promise ratified by a vote of the conference members. If so why is it not in writing? Were all the existing members of the SEC aware of the promise?

What was the duration of the promise? A year, five years or forever? Who knows?

Basically it is very difficult to enforce an oral agreement against an organization when a written agreement exists.
