Rivalry is a bit of a stretch, but Nebraska-Iowa seems entrenched in the early slot on Black Friday.

I feel like Michigan-OSU has been in the late afternoon slot a couple times over the last 20 years.

And thanks to the others for making the point better than I could. There will be so many SEC games that someone will get bumped to the early game regularly. And remember what Oklahoma was pre-Stoops. That Oklahoma-Mississippi State game featuring two 3-6 teams is perfect for 11 a.m.

I'm sure ESPN will order it to be played in the dome

Seeems like that's the way it was most years when ABC had the contract solo. Ohio State-Michigan in the morning Pacific time, followed by USC-UCLA.

The problem with Thursday is the competition from the NFL game. And cable networks are omnivorous. I think the expanded conferences will move to Friday nights. This will lead to an outcry about the Power Four schools hurting the great tradition of Friday night high school football.

But many traditions have been trampled in the pursuit of television dollars. What's one more?

The Big Ten already plays Friday night games

ACC Network already does regular Friday games. But there is more of a high school football culture in the Deep South and Texas, so I think you’d see more resistance here. Besides, a Kentucky-Mississippi State game might not do a great number on Thursday night, but it still is better than it would getting buried on the Ocho or SEC Network Alternate against two dozen other games.
