See, that's the thing. I'm guessing Texas is already pulling something along the lines of $20M a year, thanks to the Big 12's giveTexaseverything policy. So while the rest of the Big 12 has incentive to move, Texas doesn't. Now, if the rest of the Big 12 South tells Texas to go piss up a rope, then the Longhorns won't have much choice but to tag along, I'd guess.

Seems to be too much bitterness and too many other teams ready to jump for the expansion to end right there. I can't see the Big Ten stopping at just Nebraska especially with Notre Dame and other schools still a possibility.

But Texas will still have everything (at least control the Pac-16 East) plus now get California, the most populous state in the country and make inroads into the No. 2 market in L.A.

Anyone know how the cable deals compare with the networks?

And I really wonder how hard Texas tried to keep the 12 together (you know, like equalize the TV money).

Wazzu has the smallest budget in the Pac-10 but it's at $35 million, not $10. That said, everyone, not just the Cougs, would love a $14-million jump in TV revenue to about $20 milllion a year.

Think you are right I was looking at figures that had WSU at roughly $10 million just for football.

But that is a big spike for a program like that.

Has the AP moved a story on this stuff yet? Last I saw was one solely about Nebraska to the B10.

NBC's deal with Notre Dame lasts until the 2015 season:

Will Southern Cal be allowed to play for the Pac16 title after the NCAA kicks its ass in a day or two?

I've got to think an extra 10-20 million will have a bigger impact on the smaller programs than the bigger ones.
I really wonder what Texas or USC don't have that they think they might need.

If the Big 10 adds Nebraska and Notre Dame they could add Joliet Catholic as the 14th school and they'd still come out the winner in this.
