The Mountain West TV contract is kind of a scattershot deal split between Fox, CBS and ESPN I think, and not the flagship channels either. Plus there’s a lot of resentment out that way about Boise State setting itself up as a mini-Texas with an unequal revenue split. I wonder if the American uses these two as leverage to bring in Boise/SDSU if they fear things are falling apart (and Boise can’t be certain of an eventual prom invite from the Big 12.)

Boise is TV market No. 101 -- which is a huge problem for the Broncos to make a big jump up.

These play a role. The MW has some decent exposure on those channels now, I believe the AAC overall has more streaming and ESPN+ games, but the AAC makes more per school. They also have a better commissioner and things like bowl tie-ins and all that stuff. Not sure how much that means in the end, but they are there.

I wonder how much of bringing in Air Force is about keeping Navy, and how much of Air Force coming in is because of Navy.

I haven't looked into it, is Air Force going to be a full member? Is Navy going to become one? Their other sports aren't usually great, understandably, but Air Force sometimes puts together a team or two. Or at least one capable of knocking someone off if they aren't paying attention.

And yes, I am sure there is appeal for Air Force to be in the same conference as Navy. CSU on the other had doesn't have anything like that.

I wonder how much of this is TV market stuff? This gives the AAC all of Colorado, which isn't small any more.

That’s the reason they won’t be making the jump up.

I don't think Air Force cares if Navy is in its conference or not. They're going to play every year regardless. Colorado State's biggest rival (besides CU, which they're not playing every year any more) is Wyoming.

Denver is the No. 16 market, but Colorado Springs is 82. It just seems so odd and out of left field.

Preserving the CSU-Wyoming rivalry was one of many issues that killed the supersized WAC and led to the creation of the MW.

If the ASUN is genuine about not taking another OVC football school so the league does not lose its autobid and that belief is held by all FCS leagues, Murray State may be stuck for a bit.

It's 2021 and Tulane fans are criticizing a possible CSU move to the American. But here we are.

I will add that freight trains still run down the middle of Mason Street in Fort Collins, which is beyond cool.
