No clue. Looks like they had an option to opt in, but I have no clue what the contractual structure that allowed it is.

Let's just end the pretense now. Separate the P5 and G5 and hold championships for each. Any cream that could've risen to the top has done so at this point.

    Copped from the UAB board:

"Info from someone on the MAC conference board ("GlueStix", a WKU fan) - hope this is cool to re-post here:

Listening to Brett McMurphy's Podcast this morning Big Bets On Campus. MAC talk starts at 16 minutes.

Basically...WKU is ready to join the MAC yesterday, MTSU is broke and is not ready to pay exit/entrance fee. MAC will NOT invite only WKU. They can't understand what MTSU is thinking. Also, apparently, ADs around the country are shocked and confused at MTSU. Say it's a clear no brainer.

Yeah, I'm not sure how staying in C-USA at this point is a better deal than a move to the MAC with ESPN... Unless the 'remaining members' of C-USA are being given a bigger percentage of whatever media deal is being cobbled together (which would not be surprising at all) - and that deal roughly equals the 'C-USA exit fees / MAC entry fees / reduced take of the MAC media $$$ as a noob' scenario..."

I can't imagine the hate WKU fans will have for MTSU if they screw this up.

I'd imagine the MAC is on better financial footing than C-USA. Couldn't they help $peed thing$ up? Then again C-USA is getting all the exit fees.

We only thought that the WKU-MTSU rivalry was "A hundred miles of hate" before. The MUTS basketball team that goes to Bowling Green this season is going to catch pure-D hell.

Judy with a giant and very public middle finger for WKU.

I have yet to see evidence MTSU has grown its fanbase in any meaningful way since jumping up to alleged big boy football from the OVC.

Akron used to draw 30,000 at least for 1 home game, called the Acme-Zip game, when they were in I-AA.
They don't draw that for their 5 home games total now
