Washington State baseball will join its other non-football programs in the WCC for 2025 and 2026. Oregon State baseball will be independent for baseball, in the WCC for other sports except football and wrestling, which has yet to find a conference.

It seems like there needs to be a West Coast equivalent of the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association with Oregon State, CSU-Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Cal Baptist and Utah Valley, but they're short a school. Arizona State is the only other D-1 program that makes geographic sense, but there's no way they opt out of Big 12 wrestling.

I'm worried that going independent kills OSU wrestling.

I doubt that. Wrestling is really an individual sport, and they're going to have few problems getting matches and opportunities for their athletes. And really, what's to say they don't eventually join the Big 12 for wrestling? If Utah Valley can get in ...

All you need on New Year's Day is SyFy for The Twilight Zone marathon.

Fresno State went the Big XII route when it bought back wrestling. It's one of those sports you wonder why the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation doesn't add.

They’ll use the conference affiliation issue as a pretext to kill it. This is every AD’s dream. Find a home for what you care about. Find a reason to kill what you don’t care about.

Given the viewing choices he offered cable would be a huge upgrade. A cheap smart TV comes with more than that.

NCAA spots are awarded via conference tournaments. So you have to be in a conference. OSU will land someplace, it is too good a program not to, and is almost fully endowed, so finances aren't a concern.

Oregon State, CSU-Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Cal Baptist and Utah Valley could add UALR (already in the league), Wyoming and Northern Colorado and have enough schools. Fresno, Davis, Oregon and Boise dropping their programs over the past 20 years or so really hurt West Coast wrestling.
