Beautiful gold, so-so silver and shameful bronze: The running Olympics thread

    I'll raise you an Ironman.... why THAT isn't an Olympic event is mystifying.

    US track should get back on... uh... track with the 400m and 400m Hurdles. They should pick up 4-6 medals in those two events.
     
  4. Track hasn't been all it's cracked up to be for the U.S., but they have six fencing medals. That might be an all-time high.

    Probably because the federations would argue (or do argue) about who would run it. Swimming? Track and field? Cycling? It's an Olympic turf war.

    Triathlon is an Olympic event, but not the Ironman distance.

    I'm pretty sure there's a triathlon federation of some sort, given that triathlon (not an Ironman length) is an Olympic event.

    EDIT: Smallpotatoes beat me to it.
