Beautiful gold, so-so silver and shameful bronze: The running Olympics thread

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by deskslave, Aug 6, 2008.

  1. True, that. Shut up and play.

And my Internet connection went down just long enough to miss the U.S.-Australia water polo. Just my luck.

I think it gets replayed tomorrow, Lyman. I missed it too. Booo! But hey, I've got table tennis :p

I love that NBC has the LIVE graphic up even during the late-night replay. sigh.

  4. Hey, there's some kick-ass wrestling on right now. And I just got to watch the medal ceremony for an American who just won gold in sailing.

Wait, I'm up at 3 a.m. watching sailing?? Help me, I'm sick. :)

    Still table tennis here.

And I didn't think it was possible for Alex Flanagan to look bad ... but, boy, that gawdawful all-satin outfit she's got on is the most unflattering thing I've ever seen.

Hey, not a damned thing wrong with watching sailing at 3 a.m. What else do you have to do?

Man, I can order Michael Phelps: Greatest Olympic Champion on nbcolympics.com already. I'll have to put it on my Christmas list :D

  10. Yeah, that's the problem ...

So I'm watching the replay of the gymnastics, and it's the first time I've been able to make sense of the tiebreaking procedure. That procedure appears to reward the gymnast who gets the worst score out of the batch that count. How does that make sense?
