    Mo is the last of the grandfathers, yes.

    The list of all the No. 42s:

    * Butch Huskey - Mets
    * Mike Jackson - Indians
    * Scott Karl - Brewers
    * Jose Lima - Astros (and I don't think he's allowed to wear it again, if he makes it back to the bigs)
    * Mariano Rivera - Yankees
    * Mo Vaughn - Red Sox
    * Lenny Webster - Orioles
    * Tom Goodwin - Royals
    * Marc Sagmoen - Rangers (the last new player to be issued the number)

    I guess that makes some sense, but if his family's still there -- and stuck there -- that's all the more reason not to put the flag on your glove. Why not just get a silver sharpie and write Mama or Maria or Osvaldo (or whatever his family members' names are) on the glove. It's not like Castro doesn't know who his family members are.

    ...

    Cox picking his nose on TV is a semi-nightly occurrence, BTW. He's got the freshest nose in baseball, because it's always hand-picked.

    Kelly Johnson scores from 1st on Chipper's 2-run hit to the right-center gap; bad defense by Mets; Braves 2-1. Now 3-1 with Teixeira's RBI-single to score Chipper.

    baaaaaaad umpiring behind the plate in the braves/mets game, for both sides. i have absolutely no idea what's a strike.

    a little two out magic and the braves are up 3-1. kelly johnson scores from first on a single.

    And the gates are open for the Braves. I respect the hustle, but I really wish Atlanta'd quit.

    not that i'm rooting for the mets here (go braves), but he was the unwilling recipient of some serious WTF ball calls when willie harris was up at the plate. his fault he gave in, though.
