    Who didn't see that coming?

Oh well. At least Hudson's out of the game.

They should have the best 3-4-5 in the National League.

I didn't say the Mets had the best 2-3-4. I was talking about the Ankiel callup.

They have the oldest 4-5-6 in the game; how many more years do Delgado, Alou and Green have?

Utley-Howard-Rowand when healthy is pretty downright scary (this year). When Burrell is hitting, Utley-Howard-Burrell is not too bad, but right now they are making do with Rollins-Howard-Rowand. Slight offensive drop-off from Utley to Rollins, but it's primarily within the average and RBIs. One of the big reasons why the Phillies are able to salvage their record since the Utley injury is because of Rollins. He is getting on base for Howard, and if Howard strikes out (like he usually does), Rowand can bring it right back.

My bad ... should have said 3-4-5.

From the AP story on Ankiel:

He won 11 games and struck out 194 batters in 175 innings as a 20-year-old rookie in 2000 and was a surprise pick to start the Cardinals' 2000 postseason opener against Atlanta. But he became the first major league pitcher to throw five wild pitches in one inning since Sept. 15, 1890, when Bert Cunningham did it for Buffalo of the Players League.

He threw nine wild pitches in four innings during the 2000 playoffs and never really was the same after that.

    What a stat.

Delgado's got about four or five more years; Alou will either be done this year or next; and Green has three or four more.

So much for that. So says the suicide squeeze off Hudson's bat.

Shawn Green has three or four more what left? Games? Days? Surely, you're not talking about seasons.

The really strange part about that, if memory serves, was that he made it through the first against Atlanta just fine. Then St. Louis got him four or five runs in the bottom half. When he took the mound in the second, he just went nuckin futs.
