I think the Braves have a better lineup, at times.

The Mets 1-2 combo is the best in the league. Perfect for ABC baseball.

The Braves have probably the most explosive 2-3-4 combo with Renteria, Jones and Tex. Although the Mets 3-4 combo is pretty nice too.

I think the Braves have the better overall lineup in terms of production, etc. with the lone exception of Andruw Jones.

The Braves definitely have better production from the corner OF positions than the Mets too.

The Braves have two solid starters, one starter who is great as of late (Carlyle) and an average guy in James and plugging the hole at #5. The Mets rotation has Glavine, Maine and El Duque and Perez. If Smoltz-Hudson are on and Carlyle stays on pace, I give the Braves the advantage.

Bullpen - both teams have woes. The Braves have trouble closing games, while the Mets have trouble getting through the middle innings.

Bottom line, both teams have big strengths but both have glaring weaknesses. Should be a fun ride to the end. Hopefully both teams get in, as I think that either are two best overall teams in the league (at least compared to the AL).

I'm sticking to my guns. The Mets will win the East and the Braves will win the wild card, and the Mets will lose to the Red Sox in the world series.

What a waste of time. The only things I got out of that was a headache and the material for this stupid post.

M's up 4-zip on the Orioles in the third. Most astounding, Horacio Ramirez has pitched two shutout innings...on the road!

It's still HoRam; M's better play add on.

Edit: Tejada grand slam in the third, 5-4 Birdies. Sometimes it hurts to be right.

Re-edit: And now the game is delayed by rain at the end of three. A rainout just might be worse than a loss for the M's. What can go wrong will go wrong...

Could Soria make a case for ROY if he finishes with 20 saves and an ERA under 2.00? He hasn't been closer all year (Dotel had that role for about 2 1/2 months), which would make 20 saves impressive. Right now, he has 12 saves and a 2.22 ERA. He's been a stud for most part.
