Jayson Werth with the first hit of the night for either team since the first inning. In the 7th.

 

Tigers-A's tonight:

A's take an 8-1 lead.

Tigers bounce back with a grand slam and more for a 9-8 lead.

Cust then hits a grand slam to dead center (420 feet) for a 12-9 lead.

Only the sixth inning.

 

Cust looking for the rare bases-loaded cycle. He's got the homer and the double. Triple, though, always the toughest to get.

 

Joba Chamberlin is the real deal.

 

Better than Hughes?

 

Shaun Marcum has thrown six no-hit innings in Kansas City, but he grabbed his calf after ending the sixth. He limped off the field and the KC radio guys were skeptical if Marcum would come back.

 

I just turned the Jays game on. Marcum is struggling with that calf injury, whatever it is.

In the unusual observation category: John Gibbons is drinking out of, literally, a bucket with a Dr Pepper logo. It's the biggest paper cup I've ever seen.
