  1. It was the circular logic of it more than anything.

Girardi said early on it made the No. 2 hitter like a No. 3.

Then at the end, and I'm talking a good 5 minutes of slurpage later, Brennaman said, "and ya know, that makes your No. 2 guy a 3-hole hitter."

    Grrrr.

Of course, the Dodgers have to give up 2 homers to the dude, then watch him make that running, falling-down catch at the track.

But, this is a great story.

So who's the most unathletic person they can find to play Rick's dad? Guy threw like a girl.

Ankiel, the most positive thing to happen to the Cardinals all year. I might have to go to a game now. From throwing cheese to swatting homers, just a great story.

Best story of the year. Better than Hamilton. Better than the Brewers. Better than Beckett. If this guy doesn't make you love baseball ... you don't have a soul.

Best fucking story of the year.

Sorry, but as much as I like this story, I like Hamilton's better.

Not me. Besides, Hamilton's story gets told every other year -- troubled phenom with drug problem cleans himself up, makes good.

    Ankiel is Smokey Joe Wood.
