I repeat, Zeke, my upbringing will not allow me to make a bet that would force me to root for the Yankees...or as my father raised me to believe the team was named "Goddamn stinkin' Yankees."

I can trace my grandparents coming from Italy in the early 1900s...I've seen the ship's manifest at Ellis Island, can find it in minutes on the Ellis Island website... they're names are on the wall there...
Make all the old jokes you want about me.
    Do not diss my heritage!

I wonder if Great Grandpa Edigio was a Dodgers fan. I'm sure, if anything, he was a Yankees fan.

Gagne aside, Okajima has pretty much been money the entire season. One loss does not a season make.

Oliver Perez with just an outstanding first inning:

H.Ramirez homered to left on a 1-1 count.
    - De Aza grounded out, pitcher Ol.Perez to first baseman Delgado.
    - Mi.Cabrera walked on a full count.
    - Willingham struck out.
    - C.Ross doubled to left, Mi.Cabrera to third.
    - J.Wood flied out to center fielder C.Beltran.

And remarkably, only one run scored.

Jay Gibbons is going to have season-ending shoulder surgery. That leaves Baltimore with no shot at catching the Red Sox (as if they had a chance as it is).

And Maggs is having quite the day so far. After the second inning, he's 2-for-2 with two home runs and four RBIs, and the Tigers are throttling the Athletics, 8-2.
