In the same segment, he also managed to compare Tiger Woods to, shockingly, the Big Red Machine.

Big Papi's having a nice year, but it's great not hearing about how a part time player, who gets involved in the 3 hour game for about 12 minutes, is not up for MVP consideration.

    AROD should own this award.

Joe Morgan, talking about Pat Burrell - "He can run." Maybe he was looking at Burrell's 83 percent career SB success rate...he must have missed the six career attempts.

You're forgetting, Cam (love the movie), Morgan doesn't worry about little details like career stolen-base attempts ... and facts.

Aaron Rowand, as per usual, just made a great catch, running to the wall in left-center, just catching up to the ball with a full extension grab.

That anything can happen in a short series, and the best team doesn't always win. If the Yankees, Mets, Red or White Sox, DOdgers etc. had left their team in the state of that Cards team going into the playoffs (Suppan #2, Weaver #3, Wainwright closing etc.) the fans would have called for the GMs' heads, and would have been right. The unexpected happends sometimes. Doesn't make you right anymore than someone who takes 20:1 odds at roulette & happens to hit. Stupid & inferior sometimes hits - more power to you but it's not a model to imitate if you hope for similar results.

  7. Any chance the Phils pull even with NY and/or Atlanta before collapsing this year?

I hope they can pull it off but NY is probably too talented and Atlanta just wins.

I don't know. You are talking about the Phillies. It seems that no matter how good Philadelphia has been in the last, I don't know ... 14 years, it always finds a way to fall out of the race before the middle of September.

They're probably putting out the best team they've had in a while, so if ever there's a chance, I think it's this year.

  10. That's what I figure. I think the Mets will do it going away once the Braves and/or Phillies light a little fire under their rear-ends.

All things considered, the Phillies are lucky to be in the race.

The team with the least shitty bullpen will win this division. And right now, none of the three are worth bragging about.

  12. If they were really lucky they'd be in the Central.
