Is there some other important message Trump wanted to get out that the media is ignoring in favor of Cruz missives?

    Well, yeah.

That we need to build a wall, keep Muslims out, and Make America Great Again! Duh.

So, in other words, Trump DID go birther on Cruz of his own volition.

If he didn't think it was relevant, or thought it was pretty settled law (which it is), he could've said so. He didn't. I'm not sure what you're arguing here.

Bonus: I love the pained, awkward explanations being written to describe "jumping the shark," which Cruz used in his response.

Media: Is it a problem that Cruz was born in Canada

    Trump: I don't know. Maybe.

    Media: Trump attacks Cruz!

Why is anyone spending time on this? If it's so stupid, why is NBC and the WaPo asking him about it?

The guy made his name politically by questioning Obama's birthplace, and now nobody is supposed to ask about Cruz?

And you're saying this? The guy who wants a daily recap of every allegation against Bill Clinton from the past 30 years?

Hell, all GWB wanted was to be baseball commissioner, and no one would give him the job, Instead, we got the invasion of Iraq.

No one else has been able to figure out how to get Trump out of the race. They should at least consider offering him the NFL commissionership. It's already been proven that no one can fuck that up, no matter how hard they try.

You can't ask the guy about something and then declare that he's talking about stupid stuff.

If he brings it up on his own, that's one thing. But, they're looking for him to make an issue of it so they can hype the Trump/Cruz heavyweight battle. It's completely disingenuous.

Maybe it was an ESPN reporter.

He IS talking about stupid stuff. Freely.

If he didn't want to, I'd think a man running to be the leader of the free world would be savvy enough to sidestep it.

The media asking a dumb question doesn't absolve the candidate of giving an even dumber answer.
