Interesting call on Duran Duran, another band that had a lot of really good songs, but didn't have a single standout album...

Add Moving Pictures by Rush to the list of albums that probably should have been on here.

There was no way I wasn't going to take War over Number of the Beast, but that was an influential Maiden album, and the first one with Bruce Dickinson singing. War is tremendous, though ... Two Hearts Beat As One ... they don't make them like that anymore. U2 had another pretty tough draw with Unforgettable Fire going up against Master of Puppets.

Leppard was a hair band as far as packaging and appearance ... but far better songwriters than most of of the hairband rabble. That's where they separate themselves.

I think their Rio album (that broke them big in the U.S.) had more standout songs than their self-titled album.

Any list of top albums of the 1980s with tHe Violent Femmes first album is not a good list.

I have to agree that an 80s Album Bracket without Duran Duran is hard to picture, but there isn't that clear standout album for them.

I'm a huge Springsteen fan, but no way Nebraska should beat Thriller.

People are really, honestly voting against Thriller?

In '87, Huey released Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
