A buddy and I went to this place near work for lunch last week. Z Burger. It's basically Five Guys, but they have milkshakes on the menu. The milkshakes aren't as good as Cookout, but they have just as many flavors.

They even do the bit where they pour 8 lbs of fries in your bag.

$13 for a single cheeseburger, regular fries and a milkshake.

My daughter loves watching Man v. Food, so we've seen a bunch of ads for the show and so we taped and watched the one from New Orleans. The guy doesn't have a lot of personality, but the food looked great.

The New Orleans episode came on after the LA one. I've been to Port of Call, and they have a great burger.

But, overall, I was craving the LA burgers more than the New Orleans ones.

Had a great day of eating in NO a few years ago , Cafe du Monde for beignets and coffee early, Mothers' for breakfast, Port of Call for lunch and NOLA for dinner.

I went to Matt's Bar when in Minneapolis and had the Juicy Lucy or Jucy Lucy however it's spelled...

Definitely a good burger. Not the best I've ever had by any stretch, but for a relatively inexpensive burger, it was pretty damn good...

Had that last summer, too. That was a tasty burger. Did they serve you a Coke can with a straw in it?

I did notice that they didn't appear to have soda on tap. Since that means no free refills, I had coffee and a beer.

Does anyone remember The Texas Ranger and the Texas range burger from Freeport, NY. On the L.I. of the Meadowbrook Pkwy?

Gary's in West Orange had a great Pizza Burger and onion rings.

Matt's is a vibe thing / say you've been there. They lay claim to the invention of the JL, altho the 5-8 down the road begs to differ. There are better JL burgers in the Cities.

I think the best burger I ever had was in the mid-80s at a Fuddrucker's when they were just starting to get big.

The cut of meat was outstanding, the bun was toasted perfectly. The fixing bar with lettuce and tomato slices and onion, the bbq sauce, the mayo and mustard all combined so perfectly. It was so good that I almost could have cried when it was gone.

I was sold on Fuddrucker's from that point on. But they eventually closed a few stores to the point that there's only one in my area now. And subsequent trips back have never duplicated that time in the mid-80s. Still a really good burger but just hasn't managed to duplicate that perfect moment in either 1985 or '86.
