For a chain restaurant in my neck of the woods, I'd go with Ruby Tuesday's. Great juicy burgers and a wide selection.

Jumbo Joe's in Lubbock. Fine cut of meat, great shakes to go with. Fries are greasy and awesome.

For chains, it begins and ends with In-n-Out.

It would be remarkably similar, I suspect ...

Agreed on In 'n Out for chains.

But I have to say that Ruby Tuesday's -- while not a place I go out of my way for -- has astonishingly good burgers.

  6. Yes, and it is excellent.

Also, good call by Zeke on the Juicy Lucy. Never had anything quite like it.

Supposedly there's a place at one of the casinos in Vegas that has Kobe-beef burgers, etc., that's outstanding.

Hackney's in the Chicago area is excellent. Also, Nick's Tavern in Lemont, Ill.

In the fast-food division, major props to In-N-Out and Culver's.

My daughter just started working at one so that will pick up. She was server of the week her first TWO weeks and when I told her it must mean she's doing a good job, she came back with, "Actually it means everyone pretty much sucks. I mean, I just got here."

    Yeah, me too.

Damn, that sounds incredible. Where in Chicago is this place?

People, You can have all the Red Robins and Ruby's burgers you want. I am going to go old school on your ass. If you're ever in New Haven, or driving through to the casinos, check out

First burgers ever sold in the U.S. (Library of Congress says so) Just don't order ketchup with your burger. The only burgers I have ever eaten in Manhattan have come from McSorleys Irish Pub. Maybe it was because of the copious amounts of beer being consumed, but I have a hard time believing there are any better.
