Best ensemble cast?

My mistake to use the word "ever". Just odd that they'd have party after party, and Murray would come stag. Also odd that you had a Mary, Murray, and they named her Marie.

Marie was in 11 episodes, according to IMDB.
I actually would have guessed more.

Yup. Richards not only wasn't a weak link, he's in the conversation for "best of the four" in my estimation.

If anybody was the weak link, it was probably Jerry.

For sure it was Jerry, especially in the early years. Which made sense, since the other three were pretty accomplished actors (or at least experienced), while Jerry was acting for the first time.

Weak link?! Seriously. Kramer was one of the most beloved characters in sit-com history and a big reason a lot of people watched the show.

My thinking: If the show's title includes a character or actor's name, it's hard to call it an ensemble cast.

Skimming the list, but has anyone mentioned A Different World (post Lisa Bonet)?

Not to threadjack, but this is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine. It actually makes me NOT want to watch a show when the star is so egotistical and lacks the creativity (or both) to name a show The Drew Carey Show or whatever the f---. How many of those shows have actually been worth watching? Actually liked Drew Carey's show, but that name bugged the crap out of me.

A lot of times it's the network that pushes for it. Andy Richter told a story one time about the network wanting his name in the shot title so he decided to be over-the-top egotistical as a joke and came up with "Andy Richter Controls the Universe."

That one actually isn't too bad. What would you prefer? "Family Ties" or the "Michael J. Fox Show"? Everyone thinks you're talking about a comedy concert if you say, "Hey, did you see Seinfeld" last night"?

I get where you're coming from, and in some cases it's pretty obnoxious, but every so often it serves its purpose. The Cosby Show probably doesn't get a chance (or at least as good a timeslot) if Bill Cosby's name isn't attached.

I know what you mean, but the odds of developing a pilot, selling it, having it picked up and keeping it on the air for more than one season are so slim I'm sure people will do anything to help attract an audience. If that means a lame title, but a few people recognize your name from standup and decide to watch, so be it.
