    * Knights winning the pennant. Although if they lost the World Series it'd take away from it a little, even with the exploding lights.

    * Hickory winning 1952 Indiana state title on last-second shot by Jimmy Chitwood. The type of story they make movies about.

    * Albert Ingalls executing "first human forward pass" in big football game on Little House.

Among the worst: Final hoops game between Western and its opponent in One on One. Other team must have had 98 points on layups alone but still lost, thanks in part to a ludicrous final play that ended with Henry Steele winning it.

The thing is,if there was a fictional Series, I think the Knights would have lost it anyway. They would have been without Hobbs, because there would have been too much of a risk for him to play another 4-7 games, and they were terrible without him. Plus, as Pop said to Red while shaving, all he wanted to do was win one pennant, and that he didn't care about the series. One pennant, and he'll buy a farm.

I liked the earlier championship game between the Ducks and the Hawks better.

From a couple of my favorite basketball movies when I was a kid:

Cadwallader U. over Nevada State when some cross-dressing woman showed up and hit a last-second shot.

Pittsburgh Pisces over the Los Angeles "Team" in the seventh game of the 1978 (?) NBA Finals. One hell of an entrance for the Pisces before the game also.

But Henry redeemed it with the glorious kiss-off of G.D. Spradlin.

    "Coach, about the scholarship?"

    "Yes...??"

"All the way with a red-hot poker. I can play anywhere I want."

Lots of great ones so far, but no love for the Charlestown Chiefs-Syracuse Bulldogs game?

Or how about the two football games where an offensive lineman scored the winning touchdown?
    * The West Canaan Coyotes season finale (can't remember who they were playing)
    * The Giants-Cowboys in the Urbania Pee Wee football championship
