yes, I remember this also. That sent an important message. Gilles also played minor league baseball and he didn't go looking for fights, but he could clean up pretty quickly.

I'm surprised Gillies is not on the list...playoff series in either '80 or '81 with the Bruins...Terry O'Reilly sought him out, and Terry O'Reilly ended up with a bloody face.

Brian Conacher of Toronto was the unwitting victim. Apparently Conacher accidentally cut Orr with a high stick and Orr went bananas. Unfortunately for Conacher, the Bruins basically mauled him and held onto him until Orr caught up to him and worked him over, while the Leafs more or less stood around and let it happen.

If Conn Smythe saw the game in question, he probably puked his guts out, because that wouldn't have been the case had he still been in charge of the Leafs.

Clark Gilles should clearly be on list as should Jim Korn. Whenever Korn and Marty Mcsorely got into it Marty always ended up with his jersey over his head.

Dave Hanson, who was part of that one-sided Birmingham-Cincinnati brawl, probably should be on the list along with Jack Carlson, who wasn't in the movie but was the inspiration for the Jack Hanson character (played by Dave Hanson).

Here's the way it was supposed to go as far as casting was concerned:

    Jack Carlson as Jack Hanson
    Jeff Carlson as Jeff Hanson
    Steve Carlson as Steve Hanson
    Dave Hanson as Dave Carlson

When Jack got called up to the WHA, he was no longer available to do the movie. So they gave the Jack character to Dave Hanson and hired Jerry Houser to play Dave Carlson.
