I don't know why Esquire said it clashes.

The Dairy Queen in my locale still does that. My baseball fan nut daughter has got all of the teams over the years. She insisted we go this year so she could get the new Marlins cap.

Pretty sure every major league team still offers ice cream helmets today. Had a ton of them as a kid, and wish I still had them. But I've picked up about a half-dozen new ones in recent years.

That started at Dairy Queen. I collected the whole set one summer. Even had the same holder they show here.

I somehow still had mine. Never had all of the teams, they never let you pick the team at the places I went to, but I had several oddball ones. Early 80s Cleveland Indians, etc.

Not quite. That's a knockoff cap strictly for merchandise purposes that the team has never worn (like the Indians cap posted by 93devil above.)

Some company took the White Sox patriotic jersey logo from the 1917 World Series and stuck it on a cap. It's not even the same cap they wore that season, either.

I don't think they let you pick any team at the ballparks I've been to, either. It's only the home team that's available. But I've been to multiple ballparks recently and picked up a few different plastic helmet cups that way.

Sort of a look at how the same letters can mean different things.
