Don't know if anyone mentioned "No Way Out" - a hell of a twist at the end that I yelled at.

Ocean's Eleven (with Clooney & Co.) I never get tired of watching that one. Saw Shawshank on cable again today for about the 100th time. I can't believe Dish Network only gives it three-and-a-half stars.

My editor wrote a column to that effect a couple years ago.
Local JV football team had a mentally challenged player who suited up for every game but never played. Last game of the season, they finally let him in and he scored a touchdown. Everybody went nuts and was genuinely happy for the kid. Of course, no one told him that his coaches had talked to the other team's coaches, and arranged for it to happen once the game got out of hand.
The editor heard about the kid scoring, went out to do his weekly column on it, then found out the rest. The kid had no clue the other team had let him score. So my editor wrote a nice fluff piece, telling the kid's story and mentioning that line at the end. He got a lot of compliments on it.

    Good pull.

  9. Second a lot of the ones mentioned here (Godfather, Usual Suspects, Primal Fear, Shawshank, Field of Dreams) but a few more that I really love even though the movies might not be my favorite.

Tombstone - I really love the final exchange between Doc and Wyatt and then the scene with the girl leading into the old voice coming back and telling us about Wyatt's life after the fact.

Higher Learning - It was really depressing the way it ended but I love the scene of Fishburne going back into the school with the giant American gflag waving with the promise of hope for these people who just had their eyes opened to the harsh realities of the world.

Secondhand Lions - "So these two men, they really lived?" "Yeah, they REALLY lived." It gets a little dusty at that point.

Men of Honor - This one is more personal because my grandfather lost both of his legs in World War II, but when Cuba Gooding Jr. straps on that diving suit and DeNiro prods him to walk the steps to get re-instated, well it just blows me away. THe look of anguish followed by unending pride on Cuba's face gets me every time.

Hoosiers - seeing Dennis Hopper praying before the final play started and then hopping on his hospital bed after his son's team wins.
