"Begin the day with a friendly voice
    A companion unobtrusive
Plays that song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood ... "

We could fill this whole thread with Rush lyrics, Sam.

I'm sure everyone else would love it! ;)

Never a better chance ... now that people who thought they didn't like the band realize there are much worse Rush-jacks than this.

Always one of my favorite "under the radar" Rush songs:

"When they turn the pages of history, when these days have passed long ago,
"Will they read of us with sadness for the seeds that we let grow?"

Obviously I'm not the most objective on the subject, but never understood the hatred of Rush lyrics.

Geddy Lee's voice (especially in the 1970s)? I get that some found it grating.

Long, complex songs? OK, not everything can sound like the Doobie Brothers.

Too many dudes, not enough chicks at the Rush concert? Don't go there looking to get laid.

But Neil Peart has great lyrics. One more example and I'll get back to work:

"There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance,
"A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance."

    Doobie Brothers? Very good.
    Rush? Better.

"I've got twelve disciples and a Buddha smile
    Garden of Allah, Viking Valhalla
    A miracle once in a while ... "

"A hot and windy August afternoon
Has the trees in constant motion
With a flash of silver leaves
As they're rocking in the breeze ... "

I will just say as one of the resident Rush haters that I find them incredibly pretentious and not nearly as profound as they are meant to be.

I fully get the pretentious thing - it’s the first thing that comes to mind with their music.

Funny thing is they seem incredibly non-pretentious as people. Geddy was on the Bob and Doug soundtrack in the early 80s. He sits front row at the Jays game and keeps score.

Peart was a pretty private guy who liked to drive his motorcycle from show to show. Lifeson played himself on Trailer Park boys.

I saw them participate in a skit where one of the jokes was counting the women in the audience. They obviously took their music super seriously, but seemingly not themselves.

    I really do appreciate
    The fact you're sittin' here
    Your voice sounds so wonderful
But your face don't look too clear
