    I'm going to turn the conversation about 7 degrees to the right, because the thread made me think of someone I haven't thought about in a long time ... our former antagonist, DyePack. (Or Wenalway. Or rknil.)

    And in retrospect, I'm going to say that he wasn't all that wrong about newspaper designers and the slow death of newspapers.

    He could be a flaming asshole every day and twice on Sunday. But he wasn't all that wrong. More like ahead of his time.

    Arguing print design took up years of all of our lives we’ll never get back. It was going up against the internet. None of it mattered.

    We didn’t lose because headlines were bad or photos were too big or the AP sucked. It was the internet. None of it mattered.
