I'm not at 600 Perry Street, but I know the answer to this one from L.A.'s days at 500 Perry Street.

What Aaron is undertaking seems like an impossible mission but at least he has the balls to try it. If he's successful, he'll go on to bigger and better things. If not, he'll be another notch in the JRC legacy of sports editors at the Trentonian. It's basically as simple as that.
Instead of stomping on him, perhaps those on these threads could give him advice so that he doesn't become a victim like so many others before him.

A mission 99.9 percent of us don't have the balls to try.

  4. Are you Aaron's father, brother or best friend? Why do you keep begging people to leave him alone? Aaron is a JRC manager and is open to criticism, just based on what he has supposedly already done. It doesn't take balls to agree to be one of Jelenic's henchman, and I think you know that. It takes ego, lack of good sense or a desire to actually be an evil person. For some reason, presumably based on your relationship with Aaron, you appear to be partially blinded to this situation. As I said before, I respect your opinion on this topic and other topics, but I really still feel your views on this subject are skewed. You still refuse to tell us any positive things Aaron has done; you just keep insisting we leave him alone or give him a chance.

Aaron did not accept anyone's advice when person after person after person warned him to stay away from Trenton. He was warned by employees or former employees at the Courier, Times and Trentonian. Is he now going to accept advice? If he is willing to accept advice now, here is my sincere contribution: Walk into Everett's office on your knees and beg for your job back. Admit you were a fool.

If anyone sees any articles or columns written by Aaron, I'd be grateful if you could post the links or let me know so I can get a print copy.

I just believe that Amerikkka is the land of opportunity. I think Aaron has some plans that could help his career. But he's only been there a few weeks. I'd like to see him really get the opportunity to implement his plans. If they fail, then you could say I told you so. Right now, I just think it's a little premature to judge.

    No, it isn't.

Remember when I said there are less than 5 quality people still fighting the good fight at the Trentonian? The reason I know this is true is because I have seen the paper. If there were actually six quality people still there, especially among people in charge of making decisions about the front page, back page and the budgeting of the paper, you would be able to tell.

Adding one quality person to the Trentonian staff at this point would make a gigantic difference. They haven't done so.

It's a bad ship, no question about it. Maybe Aaron is the one that can set it on course before he's shown the door.

So what. Is there some law that a person must follow advice or be ripped apart here? You act as if it's a personal affront that someone failed to heed your warnings. That's a bit kooky on your part. Someone was going to take the job, and that person was either going to be A.) desperate, B.) ignorant of JRC or C.) under the impression that his case will be different, that he will be Joe Torre and tame the crazy Steinbrenner. I would guess that most people on that list thought they would be C.).

    He already shown he can't.

If Bob is as much a micromanager as you say, why would you think the new guy would have Carte Blanche to make significant changes immediately?

  11. Boots, I asked a similar question before, but if it is a little premature to judge Aaron, then why was it not premature for him to judge his new employees that he supposedly told to step it up? The rules can't apply only for your son, brother or best friend. You are doing more to keep the Aaron topic alive than anyone else here, it seems to me. You've also managed to make another Aaron related post that didn't list one positive change he has made. Your posts are making me even less inclined to give him any slack.

If his career is to be a JRC henchman, it sounds like his plans are going to work.

Frank, I agree, someone was going to take the job eventually. That person would be open to criticism also. I did not bring up the advice segment. Boots suggested that we use this thread to provide Aaron with advice, and I simply pointed out that Aaron did not take advice before, so why should I presume he would take advice now.

I'm not his father, brother or his best friend. I just see him in a lose-lose situation that can hopefully only get better. I don't want to see him or anyone else who would be in that position fail.
