Now Jelloneck is blaming "severe" weather for last month's revenue "slump." Funny, we've had somewhat of a mild winter here in the Northeast. I guess blaming himself wouldn't be the right thing to do.

What I want to know is how he intends to dig out of the $720+ million debt that he created. Firing a couple of low-paid schlumps at Trenton or Norristown ain't gonna make a dent in that hole, that's for sure.

I blame this thread and the banning of "American Idol."

Actually, Gannett was blaming the weather, too. They have a paper in Hawaii, but they also have papers in Upstate New York, which was buried under about 10 feet of snow. JRC does have papers in Michigan and Ohio.

"Total revenues for the second period were negatively affected by the severe weather, which had an impact on all of our clusters in both our advertising and circulation revenues. Online revenues continue to perform very well and we expect our online revenue growth to accelerate as we move through the year. In addition, this year's second period did not benefit from the increase in advertising and circulation revenues that occurred in 2006 when the Super Bowl was played in Michigan."

  8. Never mind what Gary Walters, the AD, thinks about all of this.

Bracy needs to trade in the newsroom TV for a bullshit meter:

Scott said he had no intention of leaving Princeton, his alma mater, and he wanted to get the program headed back on the course it was on when he inherited the team from current Georgetown coach John Thompson III in 2004. But Denver came calling, and, with his ties to Colorado, the former Air Force coach felt it was a good fit.

"It was a situation where it started out and progressed and the more I talked, the more I learned, it just kept moving in the direction where it’s sincere, it’s for real," he said. "...It’s a good opportunity, professionally and personally."

  9. I check in with this thread at least once a day and feel JRC deserves all the bad pub it can get. But I'm unclear on what this Bracy character has done to deserve getting picked apart on a daily basis like this. No, I'm not Bracy, have never met him, and have never even been to Trenton.

It's easy to say that people are working in a bad situation for a bad organization, and they are just trying to make a living and be successful in their career.

But when this guy Bracy comes out and writes his opening column which might be appropriate for a junior taking a spot in his college newspaper but certainly ridiculous in light of what has happened at the Trentonian, he is inviting the abuse. At some point, you become part of the problem. If this guy worked in Camden and didn't know what was going on at the Trentonian, he is not suited to be a journalist. The profession is watching because it is such an ugly situation. The stock prices for JRC pretty much say it all - dramatic decline

    Wow.

I thought folks would run out of shit to say about Trenton about 22 pages ago.
